Bonnie Mwangi, a four Masters Degrees holder, has announced his bid for the Kiambu County governor’s seat under the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) led by Martha Karua on April 28.
In a statement shared on Tuesday, April 28, Mwangi stressed the importance of prudent, business-oriented leadership in office after the first 15 years of devolution in Kiambu County.
Stating his reasons for eyeing the seat in 2027, Bonnie called out the Kiambu county government, especially Governor Kimani Wamatangi, for what he described as “overseeing criminal enterprises in the county”.
Further, Mwangi noted that the county was wasting public resources by funding domestic and foreign travel, citing the Controller of Budget’s report, which showed that in FY 2024/25, Kiambu spent KSh 304.49 million on domestic travel and KSh 77.80 million on foreign travel.
