Dennis Munyao, popularly known as Afande Denno, is a former police officer who sells boiled maize in Imara Daima and has declared his intention to contest the Imara Daima Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in the 2027 General Election.
Afande Denno, popularly known on TikTok for his viral videos and the phrase ‘Sio Askari wote ni wabaya’, resigned from the National Police Service (NPS) in 2025 to focus fully on content creation.
Afande Denno’s story gained public attention when many young Kenyans associated with the Gen Z movement openly questioned working conditions, mental well-being, and labor dignity.
Age and Background
Afande Denno is 32 years old. He was born and raised in Kitui County and is a member of the Kamba community.
Dennis celebrates his birthday on April 13, a date he says he shares with his wife.

Education Background
Denno began his primary education at Kamanyi Primary School in Kitui before later moving to Zenve Primary School.
For secondary education, he enrolled at Mtito Boys High School and later completed his high school studies at Kaw’ongo Mixed Secondary School.
After completing secondary school, he joined the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), where he pursued a Diploma in Mass Communication.
He dropped out just before graduation, choosing to enter the job market.

Denno’s professional career began in the private sector, where he worked in promotional marketing.
He was involved in Safaricom sales campaigns, including the sale of Huawei mobile phones.
Seeking a more structured public service role, he later joined the Kenya National Police Service and underwent training at Kiganjo Police Training College before serving as a police officer.
After resigning from the police service, Denno turned to self‑employment. He currently earns a living selling boiled maize in Imara Daima, Nairobi.
His shift from uniformed service to small‑scale trading has drawn public attention, sparking conversations around dignity in work, survival, and alternative livelihoods.

Afande Denno is married and a father of two children; a daughter, who is currently in Grade 10 and whom he says he had during his campus years, and a three‑year‑old son.

Beyond his current hustle, Afande Denno has expressed his intention to vie for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat for Imara Daima.
