Benson Mulu is a Kenyan politician and a member of parliament representing Kitui Central Constituency.
He was born on November 1, 1965, in Kitui County.
After serving in the 11th Parliament on a Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party ticket, he was re-elected to represent his constituency for the third term in the 2022 general elections.
Benson Mulu’s educational background
In 1973, he went to Mulundi Primary School for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) and sat for his exam in 1979.
From 1980 to 1983, Benson Mulu attended the Kyagwathya Secondary School for his O-Level Certificate.
Between 1984 and 1985, Benson Mulu went to St. Charles Lwanga for his A-Level Certificate before joining the University of Nairobi in 1987 to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and graduated in 1990.
From 1990 to 1992, he went back to the University of Nairobi for a Master of Arts in Economics.
Furthermore, in 1995, Benson Mulu moved to the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom to study a Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Programmes and Projects.
Later in 2009 until 2015, I attended Kenyatta University to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics.
Career life of Benson Mulu
Mulu has over 27 years of working experience in Budgeting, Governance, Human rights issues, Strategic planning, Economics, Statistics, project management, and Evaluation and Monitoring.
In 1991, Benson Mulu was employed at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, working as an Economist/Statistician till 1997.
From 1997 to 2004, he joined the Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF) in Kenya as a Programme Officer in Monitoring and Evaluation.
Between 2004 and 2007, he joined the Governance, Justice, Law and Order Reform Programme (GJLOS) in Kenya as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist.
In 2007, he became a Self-Employed and Independent Consultant in Monitoring & Evaluation, General Programme/Project Management.
From March 2013, Benson Mulu joined the Kenya National Assembly as a Member of Parliament for Kitui Central Constituency, where he has served to date.

Mulu is married and has children.
In April 2015, Patience Wasai and Mwema Makali, who is his son, tied the knot at Safari Park Hotel.
