Charity Kathambi Chepkwony is a Kenyan politician and the elected Member of Parliament for Njoro Constituency.
Early life & education
Charity Kathambi Chepkwony was born and raised in Kangeta village in Meru County.
She attended Kaongo Ka Mau Primary School for her primary education and Mikinduri Girls High School for her secondary education from 1993 to 1996.
Charity attended the Kenya Institute of Clearing, Forwarding, Shipping and Documentation from 1997 to 1998, where she earned a Diploma in Clearing, Forwarding, and Shipping.
She later attended the University of Nairobi from 2003 and 2004 to obtain a Diploma in Sales and Marketing.
From 2007 to 2010, Charity was a student at the Kenya Methodist University and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
In 2012, she increased her educational experience by graduating from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a Certificate in County Governance.

She enrolled at Mount Kenya University in 2016 to study for her Master’s in Gender and Development Studies, a course she is currently pursuing.
Career
Charity Kathambi worked at Signon Freight Limited from 2000 to 2007 as a logistics and freight forwarding agent, a role that involved clerical duties related to SACCO operations, including member records, financial transactions, and administrative support.
From 2008 to 2009, she became a sales agent at Bandari Sacco, which was in the Kenya Ports Authority, and later switched to become the Sales and Marketing manager till 2011.
Charity Kathambi joined the Ministry of Education as a board member of the Kenya Literature Bureau, participating in governance and oversight of educational publishing and literature development.
Charity Kathambi made her political debut by contesting the Njoro parliamentary seat, finishing second in the 2013 general elections.
She did not let the loss demoralise her, as she ran again in the 2017 general elections and won the seat, notably defeating five independent male candidates.
This made her the first female Member of Parliament for Njoro Constituency.
She was re-elected in the 2022 general elections and attributed the win to years of community mobilization, development work, and advocacy for women and youth empowerment, which earned the trust of her constituents.
Advocacy & Impact
Kathambi has been vocal about gender-based challenges in Kenyan politics, including intimidation and name-calling during campaigns.

She founded the Beyond One Billion community-based organization to address environmental degradation and water scarcity in Njoro.
