Charles Gimose is a Kenyan politician and the current Member of Parliament for Hamisi Constituency in Vihiga County.
Early life and education
Charles Gimose was born on 7 October 1958.
He attended the University of Nairobi in 1984 and earned his LL.B., and later earned a Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law in 1985.
He obtained an LL.M. from the Howard University School of Law in 2008, completed coursework in International Law and the Protection of Human Rights at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 2009, and earned an Associate Degree in Legal Assistance from Baltimore City Community College in 2006.
Career
Charles Gimose became a Senior State Counsel in 1995 at the State Law Offices at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
He then transitioned to become the Principal Attorney at Choge, Gimose & Co. Advocates till 2007 before becoming a Consultant and Senior Legal Counsel at the Eastern African Center for Progressive Development in Washington, D.C., USA.
Political Journey
Gimose was first elected as MP for Hamisi Constituency in 2013 and has since retained his seat through subsequent elections.
Representing the Amani National Congress (ANC), his parliamentary work has been marked by active participation in key committees, including
- The Justice & Legal Affairs Committee
- The Committee on Delegated Legislation
- The Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee
Gimose is known for championing grassroots projects aimed at improving public safety, education, and infrastructure.
In July 2025, he pledged the installation of a 20-meter high-mast security light at Kaimosi Friends University, a move aimed at improving campus safety and supporting the institution’s growth.
As he continues to serve in the 13th Parliament, his focus remains on strengthening justice systems, safeguarding constitutional rights, and fostering growth in Hamisi and beyond.
