David Gikaria is a Kenyan politician and a current Member of Parliament for Nakuru Town East Constituency in Nakuru County under Jubilee Party (JP).
Educational background
David Gikaria began his education at St. Theresa Primary School between 1973 and 1979, where he completed his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE).
He then joined Menengai High School for his O-Level studies from 1980 to 1983 and continued there for his A-Level studies from 1984 to 1985.
In 1989, he enrolled at Strathmore University, undertaking Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Part I and II training, which he completed in 1990.
He later joined the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) in 2005, earning Diplomas I and II in management by 2006.
From 2012 to 2016, Gikaria pursued higher education at Mount Kenya University, Nakuru Campus, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Management in Purchases and Supplies Management.
Career
Professional career
David Gikaria began his professional career in 1986 when he joined the Pyrethrum Board of Kenya as an auditor, a position he held until 2001.
His involvement in leadership expanded into sports administration, serving as Chairman of the Rift Valley Branch of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
In 2002, he entered local politics as a Councillor for Lake View Ward in Nakuru Municipal Council, serving until 2007.
His leadership abilities earned him the role of Mayor of Nakuru Town from 2008 to 2010, and later resumed his councillor duties from 2011 until January 2013.
Political career
Gikaria transitioned to national politics in March 2013 when he was elected Member of Parliament for Nakuru Town East Constituency.
Between 2017 and 2022, he chaired the Departmental Committee on Energy and was a member of the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
From 2013 to 2017, he was Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Implementation and a member of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security.
Gikaria currently serves as a member of the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources.
