Veteran politician David Musila has been appointed the Non-Executive Chairperson of the National Industrial Training Board.
The appointment was made by Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Alfred Mutua under Section 4(1)(a) of the Industrial Training Act (Cap. 237).
According to Gazette Notice No. 11238, Musila will serve a three-year term effective July 24, 2026.
The appointment was officially published in the Kenya Gazette and signed by Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua on July 24, 2026.
“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 4 (1) (a) of the Industrial Training Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Labor and Social Protection appoints— DAVID MUSILA as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the National Industrial Training Board, for a period of three (3) years with effect from the 24th July, 2026,” the notice read.
Educational Background Of David Musila
David Musila’s educational background includes Migwani Primary School from 1950 to 1954 and Kyome Intermediate School from 1955 to 1958.
He then studied at Bishop College in Texas from 1965 to 1968, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and government, and also obtained a Diploma in Public Administration from the Kenya Institute of Administration.
Later, he returned to Kenya after graduation and entered government service, which marked the beginning of his long public career.
Career Life
David Musila began his career in education, working as a teacher from 1961 to 1965
After returning to Kenya, he joined the public service as a District Officer, serving from 1968 to 1974.
He was promoted to District Commissioner from 1975 to 1978, before serving briefly as Deputy Provincial Commissioner in 1978.

Musila was appointed Provincial Commissioner for Central Province in 1979, a position he held until 1985.
He later served as Director of Tourism from 1985 to 1988 and subsequently worked as a tourism consultant until 2010.
His elective political career began in 1997 when he was elected Member of Parliament for Mwingi South.
He retained the seat in subsequent elections and was elected Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly in 2003.
Between 2008 and 2013, Musila served as Assistant Minister for Defense. In 2013, he was elected the first Senator for Kitui County, serving in the Senate during the first term under Kenya’s devolved system of government.
