Biography
Dorcas Rigathi is the Second lady of the Republic of Kenya and wife to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. She grew up in Kiandutu slums in Thika and attended Mugumo-ini Primary School.
Despite being infested with jiggers and lice brought about by living in poverty, Dorcas displayed excelled in her academics.

Her academic journey led her to Alliance Girls High School for her O-level education, followed by A-levels at St. Francis Girls in Mangu.
Afterwards she enrolled at Kenyatta University where she graduated and attained, a Bachelor of Education in Arts. However, her thirst for knowledge resulted in her delving into professional management courses.
During her time at the university, she specialized in modern management principles, business communication, and sales.
Pastor Dorcas, a dedicated advocate for the underprivileged, gained recognition for her community outreach and ministry, ultimately earning the esteemed Honorary Doctorate in Divinity from Breakthrough International Bible University in 2021.
Career
Dorcas’ career is characterized by a diverse range of experiences, including an impressive 15-year tenure at the Cooperative Bank, highlighting her expertise in banking and her acumen as a skilled businesswoman.
Furthermore, in 2023 she received the Outstanding Catalyst in Vulnerable Empowerment Award, a recognition for her work with the boy child, widows, orphans and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Other than her life in politics, she is an active member and Pastor at the House of Grace, Nairobi, where her journey in the church commenced as an usher in 2002, eventually leading to her ordainment in 2011.
Duties as Second Lady
Pastor Dorcas, through the Office of the Spouse of the Deputy President (OSDP), envisions a future centered on chaplaincy and family values, focusing on empowering the boy child, orphans, widows, and individuals with disabilities.
In addition, she founded the Dorcas Rigathi Foundation (DRF), a non-profit organization committed to making a transformative impact on the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
The foundation aims to inspire hope, foster empowerment, and drive positive change. Moreover, DRF is also committed to promoting an equitable future by restoring socioeconomic participation to the Boy Child, Widows, Orphans, and Persons with Disabilities in Kenya, through equal access to resources, skills, capabilities, and human and civil rights
