Judy said the immigration process for her husband and children had taken almost three years. She described repeatedly waiting for different stages of the process and said the separation meant missing birthdays, everyday family moments and time with her children.
She said she had made the decision several months earlier to return home for about five months so she could spend time with her family. In May 2026, she said she was considering returning to Africa and becoming a stay-at-home mother while waiting for her family’s immigration situation to be resolved.
