Elsie Busihile Muhanda was born on 10 October 1961 and has built her roots in Kakamega County after attending local primary and secondary schools in the area.
After completing her secondary schooling, Elsie pursued higher education at Kenyatta University, where she earned a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in Economics and Business Studies, between 1980 and 1984.

She then worked with the Poverty Eradication Commission under the Ministry of Planning and National Development and Vision 2030, contributing to national development strategies.
She then founded or was involved in initiatives like Elsie’s Investment, Mama Mulai Africa, and Upendo Projects, which focused on community empowerment and economic development.
