In the aftermath of the 2022 general elections, Fatuma Hamisi successfully transitioned to national politics, being elected as the Women Representative for Kwale County under the banner of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
While she currently does not serve on any parliamentary committees, her role involves representing women’s interests and contributing to legislative processes.
In her public role, Masito has also been active in community advocacy. In May 2025, she joined Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani in appealing to parents to instill moral values and responsibility in children in response to rising juvenile crime and youth involvement in gang-related violence in parts of the county.
In January 2024, she and Kwale Senator Issa Boy declared their continued support for ODM leader Raila Odinga, quelling rumors of defection and emphasizing her gratitude to him for mentoring her political journey and facilitating her nomination as an MCA.
