Joseph Cherorot Kimutai is a Kenyan politician and the elected Member of Parliament for Kipkelion East Constituency, in Kericho County.
He was first elected in 2017 and re-elected in the 2022 general elections, representing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.
Early life & education
Joseph Cherorot Kimutai attended Kamungili Primary School from 1973 to 1980 for his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) where he left with 25 points and later joined Londiani Secondary School from 1981 to 1984.
Cherorot then joined Maasai Mara University from 2013 to 2016, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration (First Class Honours).
Between 2014 and 2018, Cherorot served as Senior Advisor to the President—Somalia (Puntland State).
Political career
Joseph Cherorot was first elected to Kenya’s National Assembly in August 2022, running on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

He has been a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) since August 16, 2022, a tenure that is expected to extend through to 2027.
The currently serves on the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning, and Public Works.
Cherorot has actively advocated for the redeployment of teachers to Kipkelion East, emphasizing the negative impact of recent transfers on education quality.
He has also raised concerns about delays in the disbursement of capitation funds to local schools.
Through the “Delivery Unit – Kipkelion East, “Cherorot has spearheaded local projects, including the installation of culverts to improve road drainage, the initiation of a cultural center at Londiani Junction, and plans to drill a borehole to alleviate water shortages in the constituency.
