Majimbo Kalasinga is a Kenyan politician and the serving Member of Parliament for Kabuchai Constituency in Bungoma County, representing the Ford Kenya (FORD-K) party.
Early life and education
Majimbo Kalasinga was born in 1972 in Sikusi village, Bungoma Central, Bungoma County, Kenya.
He began his academic journey at Sikusi Primary School, attending from 1979 to 1988, and then moved on to Sikusi Secondary School from 1989 to 1993, where he completed his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Eager to deepen his technical and scientific knowledge, Kalasinga enrolled at Egerton University between 1994 and 1999, earning a Diploma in Dairy and Food Technology.
Career
Professional career
After graduating in 1999, Majimbo Kalasinga embarked on a career in the dairy and sugar industries.
He began as a clerk at Scind Dairy Company in Nakuru, then moved to Brookside Dairy Company in Nairobi, before returning home to work with Kitinda Dairy Cooperative in Bungoma, all before 2001.
By 2005, he had secured a role as Process Supervisor at Nzoia Sugar Company, where he served until 2012.
Political Career
Majimbo Kalasinga’s journey into elective politics began in 2002, when he worked as a youth wing member for the late Vice President Michael Wamalwa at the NARC Secretariat in Nairobi.
He first contested for the Kabuchai Constituency parliamentary seat in 2013, running on a New Ford Kenya ticket, but did not win. He tried again in 2017, this time under the Jubilee administration; again, he was unsuccessful.
His persistence paid off on March 4th,2021, when he won the Kabuchai by-election on a Ford Kenya ticket.
The seat became vacant following the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, James Mukwe Lusweti, who passed away in December 2020 after battling a prolonged illness.
During his 2021–2022 term, he served as a Member of the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock.

He was re-elected in the 2022 General Election, once again under Ford Kenya, and now serves in the 13th Parliament of Kenya.
Advocacy
In 2023, Majimbo made headlines when he publicly declared he would vote against the Finance Bill, aligning with his constituents’ interests, even though it meant dissenting from his party and the ruling coalition.
By mid-2025, he continued to publicly oppose the Financial Bill 2024 and the leasing of Nzoia Sugar Company, citing concerns over the economic interests of his electorate, resulting in tension with his party leadership.
Kalasinga is also noted for his strong grassroots engagement, including infrastructure improvements like roads, transparency in bursary allocation, and youth empowerment through sports, earning praise as a “people-centered MP” and even representing Kenya at the Pan-African Parliament.

This comprises a Basic Salary of Ksh443,760, a House Allowance of Ksh150,000, and a Salary Market Adjustment of Ksh145,840.
Additionally, he receives KSh 7,500 per parliamentary sitting, up to a monthly maximum of KSh 120,000.
