Geoffrey Ruku is a Kenyan politician who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Mbeere North Constituency in Embu County until April 16, 2025, when President William Ruto appointed him as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes.
He was elected in August 2022 under the Democratic Party of Kenya (DP), becoming the only MP from the party in that election.
On Wednesday, March 26, President Ruto nominated Ruku to replace Justin Muturi as Public Service Cabinet Secretary.
Early Life
In his childhood, Ruku served as the school captain in primary school and at Siakago Boys High School, positions that shaped his leadership skills.
Geoffrey Ruku Educational Background
In 2002, Geoffrey Ruku graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the Catholic University. Later, he joined the University of Nairobi for his postgraduate Diploma in Diplomacy and International Relations.
Additionally, he holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from, University of Nairobi.
Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Nairobi’s Wangari Maathai Institute of Peace Studies.
Career Background
In 2022, Kiringa Ruku was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Mbeere North Constituency in Embu County.
Additionally, Geoffrey Ruku is the founder of Carbon Manna Africa, an NGO advocating for democratising carbon offset to the household level in Kenya.
From 2015 to 2017, Ruku worked as a Trustee of, Water Services Trust Fund, his role being to supervise, control, and manage all the assets of the Fund and make regulations for the management.
Further, from 2013 to 2015, he served as a contractor under the management of Fair Climate Southern Africa.
In 2011, he became the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) and Founder of Climate Pal.
From 2006-2009 Geoffrey Ruku was the Mashav Coordinator at the Embassy of Israel.

Political Career
Before becoming Mbeere MP, Ruku vied for a parliamentary seat two times but lost to advocate Muriuki Njagagua in 2013 and 2017.

During his Parliamentary Vetting on April 14, 2025, Geoffrey Ruku said he was worth Ksh377 million.
He revealed that his land and buildings were worth Ksh40 million, a family residence Ksh60 million, SACCO savings of Ksh15 million, motor vehicles worth Ksh12 million and a private company valued at Ksh250 million.
He noted: “Land and buildings worth about Ksh40 million, a family residence worth Ksh60 million, sacco and savings worth Ksh15 million, shares from a private company worth Ksh250 million, motor vehicles worth about Ksh12 million, a total of Ksh377 million.”
