Joy Mdivo Brenda is a Kenyan Advocate, currently the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Kenya Power. She was appointed by President William Ruto.

Joy Mdivo was born in 1973. She is the daughter of the famous gospel preacher J.B Masinde.

She completed her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in 1990 from Our Lady of Mercy.

Later, she joined Precious Blood Secondary School in 1991, where she did her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education O-levels.

Additionally, she graduated from the University of Nairobi with a bachelor’s degree in law in 2000.

From 2011 to 2013, she joined International Leadership University, graduating with a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership Development.

Career Background

In 2022, she was appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors for Kenya Power, replacing Ms Viviene Yeda

From 2024 to date, she has been a part-time Governing Council Member at Africa International University.

Additionally, since 2020, she has been a board member of the International Aid Service (IAS).

In addition, she also holds board membership in the following institutions: Advisory Board Member at CLC Christian Book Link, Kings School, Deliverance Church International, and East Africa Centre for Law and Justice.

From 2003 to 2008, she worked as a senior resident magistrate in the government of Kenya.

She has been an advocate of the High Court of Kenya for 22 years standing and is the executive director of the East Africa Centre for Law and Justice (EACL), a position she has held for the last 14 years.

Additionally, she is also the proprietor of Masinde Mdivo and Associates.
