Popular media personality and businesswoman Betty Kyallo has threatened legal action against renowned blogger Edgar Obare.
In a statement on Monday, July 8, Betty revealed that her actions were prompted by people who look to drive traffic to their pages at the expense of tarnishing her brand.
As such, she explained that these actions have been highly damaging to all the hard work she has put in over the years.
“I have decided to take legal action against people who defame Me/My brand without any factual information. They do this for clicks, likes and views but it is extremely detrimental to all the hard work I’ve continuously put in over the years,” she said.
Consequently, Betty affirmed that she was going to hold the people involved in spreading false stories about her accountable.
“There has to be consequences for such malicious actions. I will no longer be tolerating such Spiteful, Evil- Intentioned, Fake and False stories against Me,” she said.

Details of Demand Letter by Betty Kyallo
The media personality further revealed the details of the demand letter addressed to Edgar Obare, which explains her actions.
In a letter dated July 8, Betty, through her advocates Saluny Advocates LLP, alleged that the blogger made false statements about her and her partner on his Instagram page BNN Africa and used her photo without her consent.
“On 7 July 2024, you caused to be published a sensational post and or story on your hereinabove mentioned blog relating to our clients which post and or story was not only false but also defamatory, for proper clarity, you posted our clients’ photograph and captioned the same as hereunder,” the letter read.
According to the letter, Edgar posted that, “Betty Kyallo and her Ben 10 Charlie Jones allegedly ran away with another bill at Silverstone Hotel We give you all the receipts on #onnpremium at the Link on Bio.”

Additionally, Betty’s lawyer revealed that the post was still accessible to the public as of 8th July and that it was being read electronically and circulated widely including other social media platforms.
“The post and or story which was and still is accessible to the One Hundred and Eighty-Two Thousand (182. 000) followers and or readers continues to be read electronically and circulated to other social media platforms whose following continues to rise with each passing day,” the statement further read.
However, Betty clarified that the accusations towards her had no basis.
“The post and or comment contains various allegations, insinuations and innuendos of and respecting our clients which are entirely false, and which have no basis or foundation whatsoever. As a matter of fact, and to the best of our clients knowledge, they have never run away from any hotel without settling their bills,” Saluny said.

Demands Issued to Edgar Obare
Following the highlights of the defamatory comments, Betty issued several demands to Edgar.
The TV47 anchor demanded that Edgar post a statement on his blog retracting his statements towards her.
“A full, unreserved and unconditional retraction to be posted on the same blog and or Instagram page in terms to be approved by us on behalf of our clients, of each and every reference to, and allegation made against our clients,” Betty said.
In addition, Betty demanded a full and unconditional admission in writing of liability for defamation and that he deletes the post from his blog and social media.
“An immediate removal, deletion and or expungement from your blog and or Instagram page of all the stories, posts and or comments in any form or shape made by yourself and relating to our clients,” the statement read.
Failure to Meet Demands
The letter further revealed that failure to meeting the demands by close of business on Friday 12, July, Betty would take legal actions against Edgar Obare.
“TAKE NOTICE that unless we receive your positive response the demands set out above by the close of business Friday, 12 July 2024, we have firm instructions to institute appropriate legal proceedings against you seeking, among other things,” Saluny concluded.
