Diamond Platinum Fires Back At Willy Paul

Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz has finally broken the silence on the altercation that has ensued between him and Willy Paul.

Diamond wrote on his Instagram page that Willy Paul had used his name to chase clout so that he could trend.

Uhalisia ni kwamba kijana alikua anaforce kutengeneza kiki hususan ya kumhusisha Diamond ili apate trends.(The real issue is that the man was using my name to chase clout so that he could trend), said Diamond

Diamond went on to defend the organizers saying that other Kenyan artists did not have a problem and were able to perform just fine.

Diamond Platinumz accused Willy Paul of being an attention-seeker

Ila kiukweli kwenye show ya jana organizers hawakuweka ubaguzi kwa wakenya kabisa. Kina Khaligraph Jones  na wasanii walifanya show zao vizuri sana, na waliua sana (The Truth is that organizers did not have any discrimination. Kaligraph Jonesand other artists did their shows very well..),” Diamond added.

The Tanzanian Artist otherwise known as Simba, went on to say that Willy Paul is known for the habit of attention-seeking on social media and the event provided a golden opportunity, that Paul did not cease to grab.

And we all know he has been trying to do that through social media for a while na inampoteza (and it is misleading him). Hivyo aliona golden chance take so he tried to create vitu mbalimbali to get my attention (he took the chance to try different things to get my attention).

Diamond to issue an official statement on why he failed to perform

Simba also further lashed out at Willy Paul calling him a sympathy seeker and a liar.

Kulazimisha kuonekana kama anyone ama kudhulumiwa just to get public sympathy trends ndio maana hataji mtu yeyote anataja Diamond tu as if I was the Event organizer. But the truth is vyote ni vya uongo. (He was forcing to appear victimized so that he could get public sympathy and that is why he is not mentioning anyone else but me, as though I was the event organizer. It is all a lie),” finished Diamond.

The bongo star ended his post by saying he will issue an official statement, that will include reasons behind his failure to perform at the Furaha City Festival as expected.

What caused the fracas at Furaha Fest

The Furaha City Festival in Nairobi began on a high night of music celebration before things took an interesting twist. This is after Diamond Platinumz scheduled to headline the festival asked to perform earlier.

Him performing earlier meant that he would take Willy Paul’s slot which did not sit right with him. Things escalated and culminated in an altercation between Diamond Platinumz’ bodyguards confronted Willy Paul and who ended up getting physically assaulted.

The events of the day have seen many artists and content creators come out to defend Willy Paul and to ask event organizers and promoters to respect Kenyan artists.

The event was held on December 7, 2024, at Nairobi Polo Grounds.
