Director Phil Clears Air on Selling Ex-Wife’s BMW

Philip Karanja, popularly known as Director Phil, has clarified speculations surrounding the sale of his ex-wife’s car after their separation.

Social media was filled with assertions that he had sold the BMW X3, a gift presented to the then wife Catherine Karanja alias Kate Actress in 2020 after the birth of their first daughter.

Through a statement shared on his social media channels, Phil responded to the circulating rumors, noting that the sale of the vehicle was a mutual agreement between him and Kate.

“Najua udaku huwa tamu however acheni fake stories, (which translates to: I know gossip is sweet however let’s avoid fake stories).

“I wish to officially state that the vehicle was sold with mutual consent, and there are no disputes with Kate, contrary to any portrayals suggesting otherwise,” said the renowned film director.

Speaking in an interview, Phil noted that maintaining the car was expensive, adding that he had gone back to using an Uber for his errands.

“I love cars a lot, and so I was young and foolish, and I spent so much on my car, and it has been a very expensive journey to maintain. I am like, that is a car I would have used wisely somewhere. I sold it. I have decided to go back to Uber,” he stated.

Kate’s Response to the Rumors

Echoing her ex-husbands sentiments Kate Actress share the statement by Phil and confirmed that the decision to sell the car was unanimous.

She further stated that even though they were no longer together, they still spoke with one voice.

Kate on her Instagram story asked those circulating these false narratives to redirect their energy towards watching her new show “Becoming CEO.”

She further added that the two were “not about that life.”

However, this is not the first time the duo has released a joint statement regarding their personal matters. 

Kate Actress and Director Phil announced their separation in September last year without revealing the specific reasons for their decision.

“We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and separated. We sincerely request everyone to honor our wishes for privacy for us and our children. Signed Kate and Phil,” read their joint statement.

Philip Karanja also confirmed the end of their relationship and appealed for privacy on the matter.

“This is a matter between two people but allow us to add you to the group chat a little, so we can proceed with our lives without too much interference. Kate and I remain friends, co-parenting, and business partners,” Phil wrote on Instagram.

In December last year, their daughter Njeri played a unifying role as they came together to celebrate her fourth birthday, despite their separation.

Likewise, in posts shared by Kate Actress on social media, the two were captured standing together behind their daughter, who was adorned in a beautiful pink gown and tiara, while the crowd sang birthday songs.
