The Government has been faulted for failing to recognize a Kenyan cook who has broken the Guinness World Record twice.
Chef Maliha Mohammed stated that she has broken the Guinness World record for the longest cooking marathon twice but the government has failed to acknowledge her, despite her efforts in making history.

“I put my heart, sweat, and endless hours into making history, not just for myself, but for Kenya. But instead of being recognized and celebrated in my own country, I have been met with silence,” stated Maliha.
Chef calls out the government for snubbing her achievement

She stated that she has been waiting for the government to acknowledge her achievement as is the case in other countries.
“While other nations honour their record-breakers, I have waited in vain for acknowledgement from my county and national government. Why is Kenyan talent only celebrated after the world recognizes it?” added the Chef.

Maliha broke the Guinness record in August 2023 when he completed a cooking marathon that lasted for 90 hours and fifteen minutes. She surpassed a record set by the previous winner Ricky Lumpin from California.
In November 2023, the Mombasa-based chef attempted to break the record again but was disqualified. She stated that she had been disqualified for failing to observe some specific guidelines.
Maliha disqualified from the Guinness World Record
“Upon my manager’s advice, I have to let you know I was disqualified for one error made during my rest break. I am not okay right now. I ask for your forgiveness to have let you all down. It wasn’t easy,” stated Maliha.
She called upon government officials to support Kenyan talent and asked Kenyans to make her message be heard.

“Today I am calling on President William Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto, and Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, will you recognize me? Will you support Kenyan taken? Join me in making this message heard,” stated the chef.
“I never thought I would have to make this video but today, I am speaking my truth,” stated Chef Maliha.
