Mbugua’s father noted that his son will spend one year at Teen’s Challenge, an American rehabilitation center.
The father, while speaking at Obinna tv on May 17, revealed the reason why he will be taken for tests before proceeding to the American institution.
“Now from here we are going to Kiambu road, to the Teen challenge, it is an American based rehab whereby he’ll now go through therapy and other ways of overcoming the challenges he’s going through, and it’ll take time,” he said.

Kimani’s father went ahead and gave an update on how the money Obinna sent him earlier was spent.
The former Citizen TV news anchor was initially taken to Mathari Mental Hospital because prescriptions and treatments must be conducted at a government facility, as Teens Challenge primarily focuses on addiction.
“The rehab we’re to take him, they always require a prescription and treatment first from the physicians in the referral hospital, because in the rehab, they’re dealing with addiction. Much of the treatment should be done from the government facility. So, they liaise with whatever the recommendation from the doctors from the hospital so they can be administering as per the prescriptions,” Kimani’s father said.
