Lynda Nyangweso, a renowned media personality and former radio host has recently come out as a bisexual woman, despite being married to a man.
In addition to her announcement, she has called for the rights of the LGBTQ community to be respected in Kenya and around the world.
Nyangweso’s message comes at a crucial time, as Uganda’s parliament recently passed a bill seeking to criminalize homosexuality. The bill has been widely criticized globally for its discriminatory nature. It aims to prosecute individuals for identifying with a gender identity that does not conform to the binary male and female categories.

In response to the bill, Nyangweso took to social media to share a photo of herself sitting in a crowded chair alongside a caption that read,
“As a bi woman, I’ve never really had to ‘come out’ because I’m married to a man. But this isn’t the time to mince words. LGBTQIA rights are human rights. I’ll say that again. LGBTQIA rights are human rights. No ifs, ands, or buts.”
Nyangweso’s message is a timely reminder that the fight for LGBTQ rights is far from over, and everyone must stand up against discrimination and intolerance. She also cautioned Kenyans not to follow Uganda’s lead in creating bills that do not protect the rights of LGBTQ individuals.
The media personality’s announcement has been met with widespread support from her fans and followers, who have praised her for her bravery and advocacy for human rights. Other fans, however, dismissed her and shunned her for advocating for LGBTQ rights.
