Award-winning Nigerian singer Peter Okoye (Mr. P), one half of the renowned music duo P-Square, has publicly addressed the ongoing rift with his twin brother Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy.
In a lengthy statement shared on August 12, 2024, Peter accused Paul of persistently disrespecting and undermining his contributions to their group.
Peter expressed his frustration over Paul’s recent interviews, where he claimed to have written and performed 99% of P-Square’s songs.
He specifically pointed out Paul’s dismissal of their song “EjeaJo,” which Peter wrote, labeling it a failure based on its YouTube views.
“In your recent interviews, you claimed that you wrote and sang 99% of all P-Square songs and discredited me by saying that our song with TI “EjeaJo,” which I wrote, was a failure,” read the statement in part.
“You went as far as using the YouTube views to discredit me once again,” said Mr. P.

He questioned whether other hits like “Get-Squared,” ” Personally,” and “Alingo” which he wrote, were also considered failures.
Also, Peter pointed out that while he consistently uses terms such as “we” and “us” when describing P-Square, his brother Paul tends to use “I” and “me,” indicating a lack of unity.

“Every time I have spoken in interviews about P-Square, I have always used “we” and “us” because I saw us as a team.”
“But whenever you speak, it’s always “I” and “me,” even when I’m standing right beside you. It’s as if I never existed,” lamented Mr. P.
In his statement, Peter accused Paul of collaborating with their elder brother Jude to marginalize him, claiming that their actions have turned the once-celebrated duo into a “laughingstock.”
He lamented that instead of joining forces to reclaim their status in the music industry, Paul has chosen to belittle him.
“Rather than joining forces with me to reclaim our number 1 spot in the music industry, you chose to team up with Jude to claim the number 1 spot in the P-Square group, always looking for opportunities to marginalize and humiliate me,” he stated.
Peter also expressed concern over the impact of their feud on their fans, stating that their ongoing conflict has disappointed and divided their loyal following.
“You have been doing everything for the fans to hate me, but guess what? They will never hate me; instead, they will hate us both because we have disappointed and failed them,” he added.

P-Square Breakup in 2017
The statement marks a significant moment in the brothers’ tumultuous relationship, which has been strained since their highly publicized breakup in 2017.
In 2023, the two brothers resolved their differences announcing that their group P-Square was back. The reunion saw the duo produce their first album together after a nine-year period.
However, it seems that not all was resolved with Peter’s emotional outburst reflecting the deep-seated issues that have plagued P-Square, a group that once dominated the African music scene.
