Former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe has gifted Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko an expensive luxurious whiskey at his daughter’s traditional wedding ceremony.
Polycarp gifted Mike Sonko a high-end Scotch whiskey called King George V, a variant of Johnnie Walker whiskey.
Taking to his social media accounts, Mike Sonko posted a video receiving the high-end liquor from the former deputy governor. He is also seen helping him unbox the drink that comes with luxurious packaging, highlighting its premium status.
Polycarp Igathe, who looked really excited, thanked Sonko for his attendance and acknowledged the liquor as a premium one for special occasions.

“This is known as King George..and it is for special occasions. I want to thank Mr. Kimanzi and my boss Mike Sonko for coming to my home,” stated Polycarp.
Accompanying the post, Sonko congratulated the newlyweds and wished them a happy life.

“I had the privilege of attending a vibrant ‘ruracio’ ceremony for Luios Muthengi Kimanzi and Matilda Igathe at Runda Estate. Matilda is the daughter of the former Deputy Governor of Nairobi, Polycarp Igathe. I extended my best wishes to them for good health and a joyful family life,” stated Sonko.
Whiskey from the Johnnie Walker brand is regarded as one of the most luxurious liquors and costs around Ksh75,000.
The liquor comes in an elegant decanter bottle made of high-quality glass. It also comes in a specially designed box that comes with a soft padding to cushion the bottle and enhance the premium experience.

Johnie Walker King George V is named after King George V, who served as the king of the United Kingdom from 1910 to 1936. He was the grandfather to the late Queen Elizabeth II and the great-grandfather of the current King Charles III.

The traditional wedding ceremony otherwise known as ‘ruracio’ was held at Polycarp Igathe’s home in Runda estate, Nairobi County.
Polycarp Igathe was elected as Deputy Governor for Nairobi County with Mike Sonko as the Governor elected in 2017. Polycarp however resigned shortly after in 2018, citing an inability to work with Sonko.
