Polycarp Igathe has exuded confidence in beating Sakaja in the Nairobi gubernatorial bid come August 9 polls.
Despite expressing confidence in winning against his main rival for the seat, Igathe stated that in politics there are no permanent enemies. He further said he will invite Sakaja to work with him to develop Nairobi County when he becomes Nairobi’s governor.
“Johnson Sakaja is a worthy competitor, but he is not my enemy. He is a Kenyan who is putting himself up for candidature just as I have. When I win on August 10, I will work with him. I will consult him because I am beating him at 8:57 am,” Igathe noted.
While addressing the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) on Thursday, June 23, Igathe said working with the Nairobi Senator will be for the benefit of the county’s residents.
“Let’s not fight, let us continue to listen to one another and campaign in peace. We are one united indivisible country called Kenya and politics is not enmity,” he said.

KEPSA presented the aspirant with the Private Sector Economic Manifesto for Nairobi County.
Moreover, the Nairobi gubernatorial race has been declared a ‘Battle Royale’ between Senator Sakaja and Igathe.
Nonetheless, other aspirants seeking the Nairobi county top seat include;
- Former journalist Denise Kodh (Liberal Democratic Party)
- Tech-entrepreneur Harman Grewal (Safina party)
- Kenneth Nyamwamu (United Progressive Alliance)
- Esther Waringa (Independent Candidate)
- Nancy Wambui (Independent Candidate)
- Agnes Kagure (Independent Candidate)
Furthermore, Polycarp Igathe criticized the recent opinion polls by TIFA which placed him second after Senator Sakaja. He claimed that the polls are generated by politicians to create a perception.
“The real poll is on August 9 and they will be shocked. We shall win by over 1.2 million votes and we shall obliterate UDA,” Igathe stated.
