Just days after Kenyan singer Akothee tied the knot with her Swiss lover in an extravagant wedding ceremony, another celebrity wedding has taken place.
Ugandan socialite, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Zari Hassan reportedly married her boyfriend Shakib Cham Lutaaya in a private Islamic wedding called a Nikkah ceremony. The surprise wedding took place in South Africa and was attended by only a select few guests.

In a video that has been shared online, Shakib can be seen placing a ring on Zari’s finger as she looks on lovingly. The couple is dressed in traditional regalia and seals the moment with a kiss. The Nikkah ceremony is taken as an official marriage, and the newlyweds later have dinner as a married couple, fist-bumping to their future life together.
According to the Ugandan blog Exclusive Bizz, the wedding ceremony took place in Uganda on April 16th. In the video footage, Shakib can be seen kneeling down in front of Zari, placing a ring on her left hand while she hugs him. There is also an official family photo moment outside a residence where a man can be heard shouting joyfully.
Although Zari has not shared the ceremony on her social media pages, Uganda blogs have shared videos of her taking selfies minutes after the ceremony, where Shakib also kisses her head. Whether the couple will share more details about their wedding in the coming days remains to be seen.
