Airtel Kenya has announced a 24-hour planned maintenance. In a notice to customers on April 29, Airtel said it will be conducting a second phase system upgrade of Airtel Money services.
The Company explained that it is committed to continuous innovation and improvement to better serve customers’ evolving needs.
“Following our notice on 6th April 2025, we will be conducting the second and last phase of our Airtel Money system upgrade designed to enhance customer experience and improve our capabilities that will deliver more innovative products and solutions,” Airtel said.
The Company said the system upgrade will be done from 11 PM on May 3 to 11 AM on May 4.
“This last phase is scheduled for May 3, 2025, from 11 PM to May 4, 2025, 11 AM. During this time, all Airtel Money services will be unavailable,” reads another part of the notice.
Airtel said it is aware that the downtime may cause temporary inconvenience and sincerely apologised for the disruption.

Offer to Customers
It announced that customers will receive 100 per cent cash back on transactions from all banks to Airtel Money.
The offer will begin immediately once the service resumes and will run until midnight on May 4.
“As a token of our appreciation, on resumption of normal service operations, all Bank to Airtel Money transactions, Paybill payments and Agent Withdrawals will immediately qualify you for 100% Cashback (Rudishiwa) of the transaction fee as airtime until 4th May 2025 midnight,” Airtel said.
It also thanked the customers for being part of Airtel Money’s journey and success.
Airtel had earlier advised that it will be running the 2nd phase of the system upgrade at a later date.

Airtel Money First Phase Upgrade
On April 4, Airtel announced that it will be conducting a system upgrade, which is scheduled to take place in two phases.
The first phase of this upgrade was done on April 6, 2025, from midnight to 10.00 AM.
Airtel Money services were restored at around 1 PM.
Similarly, the Company offered customers 100 per cent cashback of their transaction fees as airtime on Bank to Airtel Money, Paybill payments and Agent Withdrawals.
The offer lasted until 11:59 PM of the same day.
