President William Ruto is under intense pressure over the activities of Sudan paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Nairobi, Kenya.
Four Arab countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait have rejected the attempts by RSF aimed at establishing a rival government in Sudan.

Kenya supported the RSF’s move to form a government for “peace and unity.
The group signed a charter with other political and armed entities for establishing such a government on February 23 in Nairobi.

In a statement on February 2, Egypt’s foreign ministry warning that such moves jeopardized the “unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan.
“Egypt expresses its rejection of any attempts that threaten the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of brotherly Sudan, including the pursuit of forming a parallel Sudanese government,” reads part of the statement.

Egypt explained that such actions will complicate the situation in Sudan, hinder ongoing efforts to unify political visions and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.
Additionally, Egypt called on all Sudanese forces to prioritize the country’s supreme national interest and to engage positively in launching a comprehensive political (peace) process without exclusion or external interference.
Similarly, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait on Friday, February 28, rejected plans for a parallel government in Sudan.

Saudi Arabia Bashes RSF & Kenya
Saudi Arabia said it is supporting the Republic of Sudan’s security, stability, and territorial integrity.
The country’s foreign ministry said it “rejects any illegitimate steps taken outside Sudan’s official institutions that threaten its unity,” including calls for a parallel government.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s rejection of any illegitimate steps or measures taken outside the framework of the Republic of Sudan’s official institutions that may affect its unity and do not reflect the will of its people, including the call to form a parallel government,” read the statement.
Saudi Arabia called on all Sudanese parties to prioritize the interests of Sudan over any factional interests and to work towards preventing division and chaos.
Further, it reiterated its commitment to continuing all efforts to end the war in Sudan and achieve peace in line with the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11, 2023.

Qatar & Kuwait Stand with Sudan
Qatar also expressed its full support for the unity, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Sudan
The country said, “It rejects any form of interference in Sudan’s internal affairs and calls on all parties to prioritize the supreme national interest and to prevent the country from the risk of division.”
Besides, Qatar reaffirmed its call for an inclusive dialogue that leads to lasting peace, preserves the unity of Sudan, and fulfills the aspirations of its people for security, stability, and development.”
Kuwait emphasized the need for protection of Sudan’s official institutions and its unwavering support to Sudan’s sovereignty and safety of its people and territories.
