Police officers have pounced on and arrested a number of demonstrators in Nairobi CBD who showed up in a surprise protest.
Among the individuals arrested is Governance and political expert Professor Fred Ogola and a civic educator identified as Comrade Muthiora.
The two were among tens of others including Activist Kasmuel Mcoure, who were matching in Nairobi CBD while singing ‘Yote yawezekana bila Ruto’.
Moreover, they carried posters that called for the amendment of the constitution of Kenya.

Professor Ogola Speaks After Arrest in Nairobi CBD
According to the professor and political expert, they were arrested while collecting signatures for the constitutional amendments.
“I have been arrested here. We were just collecting signatures in town to amend the constitution of Kenya,” he said in a video while in handcuffs.
Earlier, activists and various politicians vowed to show up on August 27 in a special way to mark the promulgation of Kenya’s 2010 Constitution.
August 27, 2010, marked the culmination of a long process of constitutional reform in Kenya which addressed various pains including various political, social, and economic issues.

Supreme Court Protests
At the same time, Kenyans online announced protests on Tuesday, August 27 outside the supreme court premises.
The planned demonstration has been dubbed #OccupySupremeCourt, with several users asking Chief Justice Martha Koome to come out and address the protestors.
Moreover, Kenyans are using the hashtags #DISSOLVEPARLIAMENT and #OCCUPYSUPREMECOURT to push the announcement online.
Furthermore, activists online have been called upon to print out and sign petitions to dissolve parliament which will be submitted on the same day.
The notice referrers to the parliament as corrupt, indicating that they should all go home for failing Kenyans.
