Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has vowed to join Kenya Kwanza faction if President William Ruto reduces the price of fuel.
Speaking during an interview on JKL show on Wednesday, November 1, the Azimio MP noted that President Ruto should surprise Kenyans by lowering the cost of living.
“If President Ruto lowers the cost of fuel from Ksh.220 to Ksh.150 I will leave Azimio and join Kenya Kwanza. Let the president lower fuel prices so that I can support him,” said Salasya.
According to the legislator, William Ruto will be the best president if he addresses the cost of living.
The Mumias East MP noted that Ruto is now being felt as president since he began uniting the country.
Furthermore, Salasya blamed President Ruto’s economic advisors arguing that they have been misleading him.
“This is a good platform for him to bring the country together and delete some friends who have misadvised him to overtax people. Take me as your economic advisor, leave alone the likes of David Ndii they are misleading you,” said Salasya.
MP Finance Act Appeal
Also, Salasya mentioned that he is drafting a bill that will seek to review the Finance Act.
“We have realized that the Finance Act is not helping us, that is why as MPs we can still recall and revisit it so that Kenyans can stop suffering,” he said.

Historical Injustices
Further, Salasya said the country has many historical injustice issues to address.
He noted that the economic challenges experienced in Kenya still makes the country a slave to Western nations.
Moreover, the Azimio MP argued that the institutions of governance installed by British in Kenya during colonialism are not effective.
“Out of the five presidents, you will realize that development stalled during the reigns of the ones who relied on Western countries,” he added.

However, he said presidents who worked with Asian countries like China received numerous development projects in return.
“For example, when former President Mwai Kibaki was working with China, the economy was opening up, but when President Ruto took over, he relied so much to Western countries and you realize that nothing has been moving and the economy is not doing well,” argued Salasya.
Furthermore, he stated that all the politicians should reason together and find solutions to the problems facing the country.
