A popular Kenyan content creator, Azziad Nasenya, is also an actress and a media personality who gained fame in 2020 after her viral TikTok dance to the song ‘Utawezana’.
She faced criticism from many TikTok users, but instead of succumbing to the negative comments, she chose to transform them into a source of fame.
She continued to create more content, showcasing her dance moves to the world, which earned her more fame.
Early Life and Educational Background
Azziad was born on June 16, 2000, in Mumias, Kakamega County, Kenya. She is the firstborn in a family of 4; her father works and lives in Mumias, and her mother works and lives in Germany.
She first attended Central Primary School, located in Mumias. After moving to Nairobi, she attended Cathsam Primary School. She then went to Lugulu boarding school in Webuy, Kenya, from class six to class eight.
Buruburu Girls’ High School was the school she wanted to attend, but her aunt preferred rural schools to urban ones, so she ended up going to St. Cecilia Misikhu Girls’ High School in Bungoma County.
In May 2018, she joined the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication in Nairobi, Kenya, and pursued Broadcast journalism.

Career
She started acting with a theatre group called the Hearts of Arts. They performed at Alliance Francaise in Nairobi, Kenya, as well as the Kenya National Theatre and Pawa 254 in the same city.
August 2019 marked the month she joined TikTok, showcasing her talents in dancing, lip-syncing, and acting.
After she posted a video on TikTok of her dancing to Mejja and Femi One’s hit song ‘Utawezana,’ it blew up on all social media platforms, marking the beginning of her social media breakthrough.
In June 2020, Azziad was also featured in a Swahili TV series called Selina on Maisha Magic East. She played Chichi and finished her role in January 2021.
She has also worked as a radio presenter on shows like the breakfast show ‘WhatsUP254’ on Sound City Kenya, which she started in April 2021.
Her most recent is Habari Shuffle on Sound City Radio.
Azziad has collaborated with various companies, like BIC, for her Miss Soleil campaign and Save Our Future as a brand ambassador.
She inspires many young people through her work and advocacy for mental health and body positivity.

Awards
In 2021, she won the Couture Africa Style Awards for Most Stylish Female Content Creator. Additionally, she was the first runner-up for African Social Star at the E! People’s Choice Awards. The 2024 Women in Film Awards named her the Best Actress in TV Drama.
Azziad has successfully grown from a TikTok sensation to Kenya’s most influential young media personality. As her story continues to unfold, she has already secured a place in the spotlight.
