“I strongly condemn the mass arrest of peaceful protestors conducted by the police,” Owino stated.
“We are giving police 24 hours to release these peaceful protesters without charge, or we will move to court against the Inspector General of Police Koome in his individual capacity for gross violation of the freedom of speech and the right to picket and protest which is enshrined in our Constitution 2010,” he added.

Reject the Finance Bill 2024 Campaign
The Finance Bill 2024 has sparked uproar with many citizens and politicians arguing that it will impose unfair financial burdens on the citizens.
Critics of the bill highlight several provisions they believe will disproportionately affect low- and middle-income families.

Among these contentious measures are increased taxes on essential goods and services, as well as changes to tax brackets that could lead to higher overall tax rates for a substantial portion of the population.
The perception that the bill favors wealthy individuals and large corporations further fuels the sense of injustice among the broader public, who feel their needs and concerns are being overlooked.
