The Army Recruitment and Initial Training Command announced opportunities in the British Army for citizens of 56 Commonwealth countries which include Kenya.
British Army will be accepting applications for the opportunities which will be available for a limited number of branch roles.
According to the army, only five roles are available for applications which include Mechanical Engineering, Royal Engineers Technician and Tradesman, Musician, Royal Electrical, and Paratrooper.
“Commonwealth soldiers are, and always will be, an important and valued part of the fabric of the British Army,” notes British Army.
The application window will be open to candidates from the Commonwealth on 19th August 2024 at 0700hrs (UK Time (UTC + 1)) for up to 1 week.

British Army warns that applications received outside of this window will be rejected.
On the other hand, applications must be linked to the Recruit Bounty Referral Scheme.
How to Apply for British Army Jobs
The Army noted that any applications that are submitted outside of the Recruit Bounty Scheme will be rejected, except for those applying as a musician.
To apply to join as a musician, applicants must be able to meet the musical standards required, with more information about the standard requirements provided at the Army Musicians website.
The Army Recruit Bounty Scheme rewards serving soldiers for encouraging their friends and family to consider and apply to join the Army.
A cash reward is paid for each new soldier that begins basic training that they have referred.

If you are applying to join the Army from the Commonwealth from 19 August 2024 until the window closes, you must have been referred by someone already serving in the Army through this scheme.
Applications will be closed during September – October 2024. Applicants will need to be in a position to be invited to come to the UK to progress their application in October- November 2024 for entry to Basic Training in Jan – Mar 2025.
Requirements for Commonwealth Citizens
The British Army offers opportunities for Commonwealth citizens who meet the specific eligibility criteria with residency in the UK not mandatory to start the application.
After application, applicants attend an assessment center for physical fitness and medical tests, as well as an interview.
This usually takes place in a designated Commonwealth Recruitment Centre, which might be located in a Commonwealth country rather than in the UK. These centers are spread across various Commonwealth countries.
If you are shortlisted, you may be required to travel to the UK for further selection processes, which could include a formal interview or additional assessments at the Army’s training establishments.
