Cheplaskei Boys High School is a public boys’ boarding secondary school located in Uasin Gishu County.
The institution is classified as a C2 category school under the Ministry of Education’s revised institutional classification. It serves learners drawn mainly from Uasin Gishu County and neighbouring regions and has remained an important centre for boys’ education in the area.
In line with Kenya’s ongoing education reforms, the school has transitioned to Cheplaskei Senior School under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework. From January 2026, the institution began admitting Grade 10 learners and now hosts Grades 10, 11, and 12.
Under the senior school structure, learners specialise in one of the three main pathways: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports, in accordance with the CBE framework.
Admissions into the senior school from January 2026 are determined by learner performance in the Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA).
This marked a shift from earlier placement systems, as admissions had previously been based on performance in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination until 2023.

The KCPE system was phased out following the introduction of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA). Cheplaskei Boys High School currently has approximately 540 students enrolled and occupies about 12 acres of land.
Cheplaskei Boys High School’s performance and school fees
The learning institution has posted a gradual improvement in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in recent years.
In the 2024 KCSE, a total of 102 candidates sat for the examination. The results showed a wide distribution of grades across the A to E range, with several candidates attaining top grades, including A and A-.
Earlier performance trends indicate steady academic progress. In the 2023 KCSE, the school recorded a mean score of 3.761, up from 3.3684 in 2019, reflecting a positive, long-term upward trajectory.
Under Ministry of Education guidelines effective January 2026, fees for public senior secondary schools were standardised based on institutional classification. As a C2 category public senior school, Cheplaskei Senior School has an official annual tuition fee of Ksh45,054.
However, the total cost for boarding students may be higher once additional approved charges are included. These may include uniforms, caution fees, PTA contributions, and other school-based programmes, depending on institutional requirements.
