A Chinese roofing company opened a new factory in Kenya, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, that will manufacture eco-friendly, and long-lasting roofing materials for the market.
Wu Shuang, who manages SINOMA Roofing Company while speaking in Machakos County mentioned that the company will produce affordable high-quality materials that Kenyan people need.
“Kenya and China share a deep bond of friendship. We are committed to providing affordable, quality materials that will meet the needs of the Kenyan people,” Wu Shuang said.
Zhang Sicai, the manager of CBMI Construction Co Ltd which is affiliated to Sinoma Roofing, said that the factory will hire at least 50 local people, with plans to increase this to 200 soon.
He also mentioned that the company wants to follow local rules to protect the environment and highlighted that the roofing materials are eco-friendly.

Wavinya Remarks to Investors
On her part, Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti expressed her excitement with the launch of the new factory while highlighting that the roofing industry is growing fast and in high demand.
“We are happy that the technology being used will change how roofing is done, and that the factory will give an opportunity to young people to come and learn how this technology works,” Machakos County governor Wavinya Ndeti said.
China Constructs New Government Building
On May 17, 2024, the government of China agreed to pay for and construct a new foreign affairs headquarters for Kenya. Bearing that China and Kenya are celebrating 60 years of being diplomatic partners.

Additionally, Wavinya Ndeti noted that foreign investors are confident in investing in Machakos County due to several favorable aspects including the county’s proximity to infrastructure like the SGR, Nairobi-Mombasa highway, an international Airport, and land availability.
Officials present at the launch said having an effective roofing company is important as Kenya works on a big plan to offer affordable housing in cities and urban areas.
