The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) led by Chief Justice Martha Koome has announced the redesignation and promotion of judicial officers with bachelor’s degree in law.
In a statement dated March 8, JSC announced that it had promoted seventeen judicial officers to the position of Assistant Deputy Registrars.
This the Commission explained was in line with its strategic plan 2022-2027 which also underscores the importance of having motivated, professional, dynamic, and responsive judicial staff.
“In fulfilment of its mandate, the Commission appointed a total of seventeen (17) judicial staff who qualified as Advocates of the High Court of Kenya to the position of Assistant Deputy Registrar on 1st February 2024,” the statement read in part.
Prior to their redesignation and promotion, the officers were serving in various administrative cadres.
In their new roles the officers will be responsible for facilitating filing of cases; court fees assessment; records management; customer service; and generally assisting in case management and registry operations.
“The JSC congratulates the officers and wishes them success in the new position,” JSC stated.
The Commission is responsible for resourcing and development of the human resource in the Judiciary.
This mandate is bestowed on the JSC by the Constitution of Kenya 2010 under Article 172 (1) (c) and the Third Schedule of the Judicial Service Act.

According to the Judiciary, the planned program has also been revised accordingly.
The Judiciary announced the rolling out of judicial services in Huduma Centers in January 2024.
The roll out was to commence in Nairobi and Thika before scaling up the services for nationwide implementation.
