Drama unfolded in court on September 30 when an unidentified man caused a brief but intense disruption during a bail hearing for six suspects in the death of blogger and teacher Albert Ojwang.
The incident occurred at Kibera High Court as Justice Kavetsa was delivering her ruling to deny bail to the accused, including the main suspect, Samson Talam, the former Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Central Police Station.
Suddenly, a man in the public gallery stood and shouted, “Arrest Eliud Lagat!”
“Arrest the main suspect in this case. Without the main suspect being arrested, Kenyans will not get justice in this case! We will not forgive!”
The courtroom fell into deaf silence as the man continued to accuse Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat of being the real mastermind behind Ojwang’s death.

Justice Kavetsa responded swiftly, demanding that he be detained.
“I will be the complainant here, for creating interference and creating a disturbance.”
She ordered officers in court to “take him to the police station.”
Court police immediately apprehended the man and escorted him out, as the session resumed with heightened tension.

Earlier in the hearing, Justice Kavetsa declined bail for the six suspects, citing compelling reasons, particularly for the first three accused.
Despite defense arguments that some of the accused had been interdicted, the judge noted that they still wielded influence that could undermine the ongoing investigation.
She stated that concerns over tampering with evidence, including CCTV footage, were not speculative but grounded in genuine risks.
However, the judge allowed the defense to make a fresh bail application once key civilian witnesses and police officers from Central Police Station had testified.
“The application for bail is therefore declined at this stage, parties are at liberty to make a fresh application for bail once key civilian witnesses and police officers from Central Police Station have testified,” ruled the court.

In Narok, suspect Jackson Senchura will remain in custody after his bail application was denied.
He faces charges of attempted abduction and unlawful confinement of his wife, Melissa Nsemeita Rotiken.
Albert Ojwang was a popular blogger and teacher, died under unclear circumstances earlier this year while in police custody.
His death sparked national outrage, with civil society groups and human rights advocates demanding transparency and accountability from the police service.
The courtroom outburst further showed the public’s growing frustration over delays and perceived gaps in the justice system.
