Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has clarified responding to Aldai Member of Parliament Marianne Kitany through a Facebook page.
Muturi in a statement on January 15 flagged a Facebook page purporting to be his that targeted MP Kitany who had earlier called for the CS’ resignation.
The CS clarified that the post, which has been widely shared on social media, did not originate from him.
The fake post appeared to be a response to Kitany’s demands, which included criticism of Muturi’s role in the government.
However, the CS dismissed the impostor account’s actions, calling them an attempt to tarnish his reputation, and urged Kenyans to verify information from credible sources.
“It has come to my attention that a pseudo account is circulating false and malicious statements in my name. Let me clarify that my official Facebook account is verified, and any communication from me will always come from that platform,” the CS said.
“I do not engage in the kind of behavior exhibited by this impostor account; such actions are beneath the dignity of my office. Those attempting to tarnish my reputation through these means will not succeed. I urge the public to disregard any communications from unverified sources.”
MP Kitany had on Tuesday, January 14, called for Muturi’s resignation following his public remarks criticizing the government’s handling of abductions, including that of his son.
MP Kitany threatens censure motion against CS Muturi
She argued that as a member of the Cabinet, the former National Assembly Speaker should have addressed his concerns internally rather than publicly condemning the government.

Kitany stated that if Muturi does not resign, she intends to sponsor a censure motion against him in Parliament.
“Six months since your son was abducted and you have not reported. You are the minister for Public Service meaning all these people report to you, so when you go to the media aren’t you telling us you are incompetent? What are you doing in that office? Just resign and start addressing us as a citizen. You cannot fight the government from the inside.
“If you cannot respect the government you are serving, my job as an MP is oversight and I’m telling you to resign and if you don’t I will table a censure motion against you,” she said.

In response, CS Muturi scoffed at impeachment threats piled against him since his controversial presser on Sunday in which he seemingly blasted the government over the recent wave of abductions.

Speaking when he recorded a statement on his son’s abduction at the Kilimani Police Station on Tuesday, Muturi said he will not be cowed by statements from “inexperienced politicians” who do not even deserve his response.
He remained unbowed on his stand to challenge the government regarding abductions in the country saying it is matter that concerns all Kenyans.
“I will just say bring it on. At my age, I’m not the kind of person to respond to some perfunctory statements made by fairly inexperienced politicians. I think they’re not worthy my response. So if anybody thinks that I don’t know what I was doing, they’re up for a rude shock,” he said.
Muturi’s statement comes after National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro announced plans to impeach him over what he termed as blackmailing the government.
