CS Muturi Missing in Action

The meeting, held amid swirling rumours about Muturi’s future in the government, has sparked debate.

For weeks, speculations have been shared by different politicians and users online that the CS was on the verge of being removed from office because of rubbing off the president in the wrong way.

However, the meeting suggests Muturi is still actively discharging his duties, despite the unverified circulated claims.

Neither the Ministry of Public Service nor Muturi himself has issued a statement to address the rumours of his alleged sidelining.

The rumours began when Kenyans noted his absence from a cabinet meeting with the president held at the Kakamega State Lodge on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Also, speaking to The Kenya Times, Lawyer and governance expert Javas Bigambo weighed in on the issue, emphasizing that Muturi’s absence from the cabinet meeting could be a violation of Article 153(2) of the Constitution, which requires Cabinet Secretaries to be accountable to the President.

Muturi’s Statements on Son’s Abduction

Muturi’s absence came after he scoffed at impeachment threats piled against him by Members of Parliament allied to President Ruto.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua also alleged that the CS received threats from President William Ruto after his condolence message was rejected in Embu County.

“The President sent threatening messages to Muturi at night accusing him of making his speech being rejected in Embu at a Funeral,” said Gachagua.

However, earlier speaking while recording a statement on his son’s abduction, Muturi stated that he would not be intimidated by remarks from “inexperienced politicians” who, in his view, are not worth his response.

He reaffirmed his resolve to challenge the government on the issue of abductions in the country, emphasizing that it is a matter of concern for all Kenyans.
