The Chief Operating Officer of Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited (DTB), James Loden, has resigned.
DTB Company Secretary Stephen Kodumbe made the announcement on Wednesday, January 22, on behalf of the Bank’s Board of Directors.
Kodumbe said his resignation takes effect on January 22 and wished him well as he leaves the Bank.
“The Board of Directors of Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited (“DTB”) hereby wishes to announce that Mr. James Loden has resigned as Chief Operating Officer of DTB with effect from 22 January 2025,” reads the announcement in parts.
“The Board takes this opportunity to wish Mr. Loden well in his future endeavours.”
Loden was appointed to DTB in January 2022 to lead the transformation of Bank across all subsidiaries.
Roles at Diamond Trust Bank
1.Delivering digital transformation across both banking applications and platforms, leading Fintech engagement strategy, cloud migration, data analytics and artificial intelligence.
2. Managing the growth journey to 10 million customers across the Group, enhancing our customer experience and service agenda.
3.Leading the cybersecurity transformation to a zero-trust architecture with enhanced tooling and governance and improving the Bank’s resilience and journey to active active.
4.Delivering our branch expansion strategy overseeing growth from 62 branches in 2021 to a target of 100 by mid 2025.
5. Delivering digital innovation, operational efficiency, enhanced customer experience, increased control and cost containment.
Career Barclays BankÂ
Loden served at the Barclays Bank under different capacities before joining DTB.
He joined the newly established COO function for Barclays’ Africa operations as Head of Physical Security in 2010 and progressed to lead Security Governance and Control between 2011 and 2012 for all 14 markets.
He was the Head of Centres of Excellence, Operational Risk and Control in London between April 2019 and August 2021.

Loden the served as Director of Transitions Services Management in United Kingdom up to April 2019.
He was supporting Barclays’ separation from its African operations by leading engagement with the Absa Corporate and Investment Banking and Rest of Africa Business Units.
Prior to this, he was Barclays Director and Head of Operations, Rest of Africa.

Between January 2013 and April 2014, he was the Director, COO Strategy and Change.
During this period, he launched and led a PMO for Barclays Africa’s Retail, Business and Corporate Banking business segments to deliver step-change in customer experience, regulatory risk management and business efficiency.
He was coordinating a team of 16 in the UK, India, Singapore and South Africa, with dotted line accountability for over 250 in 14 countries.
NBC Tanzania
He is a former COO of the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) in Tanzania.
NBC is Tanzania’s third largest by market share, jointly owned by Barclays, the Tanzanian Government and International Finance Corporation.
