A Kenyan man working in the United States was found dead at his apartment in the State of Washington, three days after he failed to report to work. Gotabgaa International, an organization dedicated to connecting Kenyans in the US, confirmed the death of Evans Kibiwott Kangogo on July 2.
According to the organization, Kangogo’s body was found at his Seattle apartment after concerns grew among his colleagues when he uncharacteristically missed work for three consecutive days.
The body was located at his Northgate apartment in Seattle on June 27, with a subsequent autopsy confirming that Kangogo had died three days prior, on June 24.
“Evans was found on 27th June 2025 deceased in his apartment, Northgate-Seattle (Washington) after failing to report to work for three days,” said Gotabgaa International in a statement.
“The Coroner’s report indicated that he died on June 24, 2025.”
The cause or manner of death was yet to be revealed to the public at the time of the publication of this article.

Gotabgaa International further revealed that Kangogo hailed from the Kipkalwa Village of Kapkoi-Chebior Sub Location in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
According to the organization, the deceased was an alumnus of St. Patrick’s School Iten, class of 2012, and the 2016 class of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT).
The Gotabgaa International community and the family of Kibiwott are now seeking financial support to help repatriate his body back to Kenya for its final rites.
“We are appealing to friends and well-wishers for financial support to help repatriate his body back home for a final resting place,” the organization added.

Kibiwott’s death comes just days after Kenyan middle-distance runner Eliud Kipsang died at the age of 28 years old in the United States after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Kipsang passed away on Tuesday, June 10, while receiving treatment at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, in the State of Washington.

He had been admitted after suffering a cardiac arrest on Friday, June 6, according to a Go Fund Me set to support his repatriation and funeral expenses.
“On Friday, June 6th, 2025, Eliud suffered cardiac arrest and was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Despite the tireless efforts of doctors and nurses, he tragically passed away on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025,” read part of the statement.

Kipsang enjoyed a standout career while at the University of Alabama.
The promising athlete set the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 1500m record in 2022 with his 3 minutes 33.74 seconds run at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
His record stood until earlier this year, when it was lowered by Villanova’s Liam Murphy.
He was the NCAA DI indoor mile runner-up and the outdoor 1500m East Region champion in 2021 and also placed fourth at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championship.
