The Government of Kenya in collaboration with Moke gardens has begun the sale of houses constructed under the affordable housing initiative. The houses, located in Athi River, Machakos County are being sold at throwaway prices.
The houses that have been put up for sale include one-, two- and three-bedroom houses. The available units for sale for the one bedroom are 207, those of the two bedrooms are 520 while 400 three-bedroom units are available for sale.
The one bedroom that has plinth area of 44 square meters is going for Ksh 2.75 million.
On the other hand, a two bedroom with an area of 70 square metres going for Ksh. 4.4 million while a three bedroom with an area of 102 square metres goes for Ksh. 5.7million.
Financial arrangements
Moke gardens has offered multiple financing arrangements. It made the communication through a notice, asking those interested in purchasing the units should contact Ark Consultants Limited, through Phone number 0733607195 or via email: info@mokegardens.co.ke
“Officers can be financed through their respective housing schemes where applicable, as well as Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC), supported banks or SACCOs,” read the notice in part.

It also notified prospective buyers that an open day has been organized at Moke Gardens in Athi River on 29th and 30thNovember 2024.
During this event, prospective buyers will have the opportunity to view the sample houses, observe the ongoing site progress, and receive detailed on the booking process.

Affordable housing program
Affordable housing program is a government initiative under President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, that is aimed at providing quality, low-priced houses to people with moderate to low incomes.

The program seeks to build 250 000 housing units every year. So far, affordable housing projects have been launched across the country, and more are set to be lunched in due course.
Ruto has so far launched the project in several areas including Kibera, Shauri Moyo, Bungoma, Meru, Uasin Gishu, Thika, Machakos, Kwale among others.
