A Nairobi County bus full of Kanjos on Wednesday, June 6, night parked at the premises of former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga in what she termed as an attempt to arrest her.
According to Omanga, the bus full of about 40 county officers was sent by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to apprehend her and her employees.
Additionally, she stated that the governor had launched an attack on her and her businesses because she refused to support him in his bid for chairmanship for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Nairobi.
“A whole bus of 56 people sent by Sakaja to come and arrest me.
“Governor Johnson Sakaja has sent a bus load of over forty county askaris to my business premises to arrest me and my staff simply because I’m not supporting him for the Nairobi County UDA chairperson,” lamented Omanga.

It was however unclear whether Omanga and her staff were arrested or forced into the bus.

Sakaja Sends Kanjos to Omanga in an Earlier Drama
This is the second time Omanga has raised an alarm over attacks from the Nairobi governor. In April, Omanga lamented that Sakaja had sent Kanjos to close down her business.
At the time, the governor had enforced a law to shut down businesses in Nairobi which did not adhere to the county rules.
However, Omanga claimed that her Nairobi business was operating with all the required licenses, and it was therefore unfair for the governor to close it down.
Further, she stated that Sakaja made the move as a form of retaliation over comments she made after the revelations made in the Auditor General’s report on counties.
“Governor Sakaja has sent county askaris to close down my businesses in Nairobi despite my businesses operating with all the requisite licenses. This illegal and unjustified action follows my comment on the Auditor General’s report on Nairobi County, which appears to have infuriated him,
“I reject this bullying and political intimidation in the strongest terms possible and ask Sakaja to keep off my businesses. I remain steadfast and unbowed and affirm that I’ll not be silenced by such cowardly acts,” she said.

Sakaja and his UDA Bid
The Governor Sakaja announced his bid to vie for Nairobi UDA chairmanship months earlier and the elections have been scheduled to take place on Friday, June 7 for the second time.
The first elections were conducted on May 31 in Nairobi.
However, Sakaja’s supporters and those of the Embakasi North lawmaker James Gakuya disrupted the elections after causing chaos. Both leaders were eyeing the chairmanship position in UDA.
Following the chaos, UDA cancelled the polls.
