Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has hit out at Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja accusing him of sending county enforcement officers, commonly known as kanjos, to close down her business.
In a statement, Omanga claimed that her Nairobi business was operating with all the required licenses, and it was therefore unfair for the governor to close it down.
Further, she alleged that Sakaja made the move as a form of retaliation over the comments she made after the revelations made in the Auditor General’s report on counties.
“Governor Sakaja has sent county askaris to close down my businesses in Nairobi despite my businesses operating with all the requisite licenses. This illegal and unjustified action follows my comment on the Auditor General’s report on Nairobi County, which appears to have infuriated him,” she said.
At the same time, the former senator asked Sakaja to stop intimidating individuals who did not agree with his political decisions, adding that she will not be moved by such actions.
“I reject this bullying and political intimidation in the strongest terms possible and ask Sakaja to keep off my businesses. I remain steadfast and unbowed and affirm that I’ll not be silenced by such cowardly acts,” added Omanga.

According to the report, the county owes eleven legal practitioners Ksh10.74 billion. The fees account for a large portion of the pending bills highlighted by the auditor general, among other irregularities highlighted in the report.
“I’m utterly disgusted by the wanton looting and pilfering of Nairobi County finances through exorbitant legal fees paid to lawyers as contained in the latest Auditor-General’s report. We were told, Let’s Make Nairobi Work! Is this the way to do it? Nairobi deserves better!!!” she said.
