Members of County Assembly in Wajir on Saturday, November 4, escaped death narrowly after a double cabin pick-up they were traveling in was swept away by floods.
In a video recorded from the scene, the vehicle was fully submerged in the water.
The four occupants were forced to climb to the top of the truck to avoid the rising level of water in the area.
A voice of witness in the scene identified some of the MCAs and explained the delicate situation that called for intervention.
“They need to be rescued,” the man stated in the clip.
The four, according to reports, had embarked on a fact-finding mission to assess some of the areas heavily affected by the ravaging floods.
Wajir County was part of the counties in the Northern frontier district named in the list of counties expected to experience floods.
For weeks now, the county has received heavy rainfall related to the ongoing El Nino effect.

In addition, the County Government of Isiolo was forced to turn to a private chopper to transfer a woman in critical condition after floods rendered a road impassable for county ambulances.
The three incidents represent a fraction of the situation caused by the ongoing rains linked to the El Nino season.
Elsewhere in Mombasa County, a section of a major road in the coastal city was rendered impassable for hours with some motorists having to risk wadding through the water.

Parts of Nairobi are also experiencing floods, with the Meteorological Department warning that the heavy rainfall would continue throughout the weekend.
In its forecast reports, the weatherman stated that the short rainy season was expected to run until early 2024.
The extent of rainfall expected in the season that runs from October was initially uncertain after the weatherman gave what was interpreted as contradicting reports.
At first, the weatherman had predicted a record high rainfall citing the predicted El Nino phenomena.
Weeks later, however, the met department said that analysis had indicated that the nation would only receive above average rainfall, a position echoed by President William Ruto in public.
The rains have continued to disrupt transport and other activities with several cases of land slide flooded roads reported so far.
