A rescue chopper was captured in a video trying to rescue stranded victims swept away by El Nino floods in Samburu.
In the video seen by The Kenya Times, the helicopter retreated after the tides overwhelmed truck drivers in the middle of rising waters.
After a few attempts to reach the victims, the helicopter is seen retreating back while the victims remain stranded in the middle of the Learat River.
Additionally, the chopper went back for another rescue attempt, but it was overpowered by the raging waters, which surged with a relentlessly. The chopper rescuers were forced to abort their mission.
At the same time, residents are see watching the events from a distance, many recording the ordeal with their mobile phones.

Further Details of Chopper Rescue Mission
After several failed attempts, as seen on videos shared online, the chopper goes back to help the stranded victims who were seated on top of the lorry.
Notably, the helicopter flies close enough to the victims and rangers help the victims into the chopper.
Later, images were shared o the victims being escorted to safer grounds by rangers.
In addition, the victims, include minors who were carried by the rangers to safety, women and men.
The lorry got submerged by the water after it was overpowered by the water forcing the occupants got out through the window to try and stay afloat.

Kenya Met Warning on Floods
Earlier, the Kenya Metrological Department issued a warning to Kenyans over heavy rains across the country.
The department warned motorists and pedestrians to avoid open fields and high waters to prevent cases of drowning.
“Residents are advised to avoid driving through, or walking in moving water or open fields and not to shelter under trees and near grilled windows when raining to minimize exposure to lightning strikes,” the department warned.
