Motorists using Thika Road encountered a heavy traffic snarl-up on Wednesday morning, July 15, following an accident at Kahawa Wendani.
According to ThikaTownToday, the crash caused heavy congestion along the busy Nairobi-Thika corridor, with traffic backing up as far as the Eastern Bypass interchange.
“An accident at Kahawa Wendani is causing heavy traffic along Thika Road stretching all the way to the Eastern Bypass interchange,” the outlet reported.
Footage from the scene shows a severely damaged black vehicle at the crash site, a white-and-orange GTS matatu nearby, and a person wearing a safety vest and helmet attending to the situation.
Among the vehicles involved in the accident, the black vehicle in the crash sustained extensive damage on both sides, with the front-left section showing severe impact damage.
The front bumper, fender, and headlight area appear to have been crushed inward, and additional heavy damage is visible on the rear-right quarter panel, where the bodywork around the wheel arch is crumpled and torn.
Debris and distorted metal panels are visible along the affected sections of the vehicle, with large portions of the bodywork crumpled as traffic slowed around the crash scene.

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes as the authorities worked on resolving the traffic to restore normalcy on the highway.
The identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been established, while the authorities are expected to launch investigations into the incident.
