Elon Musk’s social media platform X is experiencing a widespread outage, with thousands of users across the globe reporting connection issues.
Also, other users have reported that they are unable to access the platform.
The outage, which began around noon East African Time (EAT) on Monday, March 10, has left many users frustrated as they are unable to post, refresh their feeds, or engage with content.
At the same time, X’s artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok, is also facing technical difficulties, with reports indicating it is unable to process or complete user requests.
Also, DownDetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, recorded a spike in reports of X being down.

X Users Rushing to Other Apps While Elon Remains Silent
Users in India, the United States, Europe, and parts of Africa have all reported issues with logging in or using the platform features.
At the same time, Reuters reported that there were more than 21,000 incidents of people reporting issues with the platform in the US and more than 10,800 incidents in the UK.
Furthermore, frustrated users quickly turned to other platforms like Reddit, Instagram, and Telegram to voice their complaints.
The hashtag #XDown is already trending as users speculate on the cause of the disruption.
Some users have jokingly blamed Elon Musk’s experimental updates, while others are questioning whether it was a cyberattack or a major system failure.
Although X has yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the crash, tech specialists have indicated that a possible explanation could be that the platform is experiencing an outage because of an internal server error.
Also, some have speculated that X might have suffered a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack, where servers are overwhelmed with fake traffic.

TikTok Challenges in Kenya
Earlier on March 6, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) announced immediate action against TikTok, following a BBC investigation exposing TikTok’s role in profiting from sexual live streams involving minors.
In a statement, CA directed TikTok to remove all content featuring child exploitation, including livestreams.
The authority also confirmed that it is launching a formal inquiry into the allegations, working alongside relevant government agencies to determine any violations of the law.
“TikTok must also present a plan to show how they intend to enhance these mechanisms to strengthen child protection and prevent exploitation of minors on the platform, and demonstrate compliance with Kenyan and international law,” stated CA.
