Gospel singer Christopher Mosioma alias Embarambamba has deleted hundreds of his controversial music videos online after an order by the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).
In a statement on Friday, March 15, KFCB said that the singer also issued a public apology over his non-compliance to the stipulated regulations.
Additionally, Embarambamba committed to create distribute and exhibit content that conforms to the regulations in the future.
“The Board can confirm that the artist has since deleted hundreds of indecent music videos on his YouTube channel.
“In addition, the ‘Gospel’ singer issued a Public Apology over his non-compliance and committed to creating, distributing and exhibiting content that conforms to Kenya’s culture, moral values and National aspirations, and which is not inappropriate to the minors and vulnerable adults,” indicated the board.
He was hosted at KFCB Uchumi House offices together with his lawyer Danstan Omari, and other members of the legal team.

Orders Embarambamba is Yet to Fulfill
On the other hand, that board indicated that the singer was yet to pay licencing and classification fees accrued from his music videos, which was also included in the order he was issued with.
Omari had requested KFCB for an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in line with Article 159 of the Constitution of Kenya, resulting in an agreement between the two conflicting parties.
“As a result of Embarambamba’s commitment, it was agreed that the artist will comply with the remaining areas of the Demand Notice, in line with the filming and classification requirements,” added the statement.
Also, Omari also encouraged the Board to have frequent dialogues with content creators on matters compliance, so as to promote the industry while achieving the Board’s regulatory mandate.
At the same time, KFCB stated that after William Getumbe was also served with the demand notice and failed to comply, he was arrested and processed for arraignment.

His Woes With KFCB
Earlier on February 28, KFCB announced that it had taken note of Embarambamba’s songs, including his latest track titled ‘Niko Uchi’, which it indicated contained unpalatable words.
Subsequently, the board stated that it was performing its duties which included regulating film and broadcast content within the country.
“The unpalatable songs, which also contravene Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya are circulating on social media and other media platforms, eliciting sharp reactions and outcry from the public,
“It has further been noted that some of the artist’s dancing styles are violent and others present imitable behaviors, which if copied by children/minors, can be dangerous and disastrous,” it stated then.
