Former Citizen TV presenter Kimani Mbugua has appealed for help from well-wishers in his quest to have a fresh start in his career.
In a video seen by The Kenya Times, the journalist revealed his battle with drug addiction stating that he has managed to keep clean lately and is now eying a comeback.
In the video, Mbugua narrated how his life fell apart since 2020 when he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
Further, he revealed that he was discharged from the hospital one week ago but was forced to seek shelter from well-wishers as he did not have his own place to go to.
His hosts- however, told him to look for alternatives rendering him homeless again.
“Most people are not willing to help because they said they are tired. But I got out of the hospital a week ago and my mind has come back to normal,” he narrated.
According to Mbugua, a serious investor willing to invest money as a partner is all he needs to get going once again.
He noted that he had a business plan ready and a proposal to set up his own business of a creative agency.
“I have a business plan that I managed to put together in the last week. And I have my first proposal for clients. All I need is a business partner who will bring money and just have my ideas take off,” Kimani noted.
In addition, Kimani revealed that he was in a Ksh1.7 million debt- a situation he noted was caused by a person close to him who sold his car thus, rendering him unable to pay the loan.
Besides shelter and a willing investment partner, Mbugua also appealed for a laptop which he said would be crucial for his business.

Mbugua’s Rise to Stardom
Shortly after entering Kenya’s broadcast media field, Mbugua won approval from different quarters and was often described as a promising prospect since his campus days.
First it was at Nation FM and NTV where he, among other assignments, co-hosted the Trend with veteran journalist Larry Madowo and worked as a correspondent.
Later, the young Kimani Mbugua joined Citizen Tv, bringing to the screens a unique edition of street content known as Broken News.
However, the high hopes in his career started to dwindle in 2020 when he was diagnosed with a metal heath disorder.
