Former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua has pleaded with Kenyans to help him communicate to his parents and help him get out of the Mathari Mental Hospital where he is currently at.
Kimani, through a very emotional Facebook post seen by The Kenya Times disclosed that his parents admitted him at the Mathari Mental Hospital in August 2022, after they suspected he was having some psychotic episodes.
According to Kimani, he was discharged a couple of days later, but his father and mother totally refused to pick him up from the hospital.
Kimani Mbugua, through his post insisted that his parents decided to abandon him at the Mathari Hospital to punish him.
”I appeal to all the people who know me to kindly appeal to my parents to let me out of Mathari Hospital. I came here after a brief psychotic episode on 4th of August and was discharged on the 10th of the same month. My parents have left me here to punish me,” Kimani pleaded.
Kimani’s post touched the hearts of many Kenyans who pitied him.

Quite a number took to different social media platforms to call out his parents for stigmatising him because of his mental issues.

Not long ago, the Kenyan media reported how Kimani had been admitted at Mathari Mental Hospital.
Then, it was revealed that he had confessed that he found himself in that situation after getting hooked on marijuana.
This, he had personally revealed through his podcast, Kimani Mbugua.
Kimani Mbugua was admitted to the Mathari Mental Hospital twice, since 2020.
Then, Kimani advised people not to take drugs.
Before his admission at Mathari Hospital, Kimani Mbugua quit his job at Kenyans and that was the end of his one-time shiny stint on mainstream media.
